Greenhouse ? Im throwing a commercial flatbed steel tarp , made it 22 ft long and its the best boat cover you could ask for , it never touches the boat and it keeps the weather off it ...but the boat got evicted by the more expensive mini skid and scag zero turns , and im in hurricane country , but i just remove the tarp if its over 60 mph winds , and put it back afterwards ..

Do you sell these? I would like 4- 2" thick rafts with 18 holes 3 inch diameter shipped inside the USA. How do I tie these to the shoreline of my pond? Do you have a gadget I can attach a rope to? This is such an awesome idea. Thank you!

10 years of raising worms, its found that Worms do NOT pee, (they perspire like humans sweat thru their skin) the liquid that is coming out of the bottom can be anaerobic it is from the food, not recommended as anaerobic liquid is not good for the garden. It is not from the worms they do not pee. You make worm tea from their castings. :-)

Excuse me if this is a dumb question but I am a total NEWBIE to gardening.... I am trying to educate myself so I can start trying to grow a few things in a raised wicking bed. My question is: Once you make this "worm home" can you plant veggies in this same tote or is it not ok to put the worms into the same tote you plant in. TIA

Hey Bob your right about the years but it’s even shorter if you don’t start in your 20s , my fun fact is when you try something new it’s another year , my problem is you are doing the water tower and 2 layer system at same bag so if it works was it water or 2 layer system?

  • @chrisschultz1580

This is not a self wicking system. It could be charitably described as a bottom watering system. It will only wick when the reservoir is filled to capacity. As soon as the water level drops below the top of the gravel bed, it will stop wicking.

Thank you so much for sharing! Do you think it would be possible to even grow some vegetables (like watermeon or cucumbers ) on top of the worms? It would grow in the middle so there still will be space to bury some food for them but also they would get some shade from the plant? I've heard somewhere those worm don't eat living plants so I'm worndering if it would be possible. If so, that plant would be in nutrient heaven :)

That’s what I’m here plotting right now. I’m thinking Find a way to get: 1. Food worms. 2. Worms away from that pot once cast has been made. 3. Worms new source of food in next plant pot. I’ve seen others have containers/openings placed in their garden beds to drop food in for the worms while their plants grow around. In the ground the worms are able to leave the container and return as they please. They’ll always go to the source of food. I can’t think of a way to get the casting out with the plants in pots, since it’s not healthy for the worms to stay in casting for long. Let me go do some brain work. There must be a way to have pots attached so worms can get to other pots and out of casting. Ohhh!! Maybe have plant in a pot in the bin with holes or mesh at the bottom/ sides of that pot, and place in bin. Add food scraps around the pot. The holes will help the plant wick up the tea as well. If you try you should let us know. Please. I’m in Alaska and grow my worms in my garage.

I've found that the best way to check the water level on a self wicking tub, is an old cork on a small dowel. The cork goes down into the filler pipe. The dowel sticks out the top of the filler pipe. You can tell at a glance what the water level is in the bottom by looking at how much of the dowel is sticking out of the pipe.

Skip forward to 22:40 for the entire point of the video - wicking bed keeps the bed moist but not wet to keep worms happy and alive. Rocks and a geofabric in base keeps moisture wicking up to the rest of the bed.

Well we didn’t get to see anything truly. And that piece of plastic will be around in 25+ years like galvanized wire will last? It looked like it split easy and was and issue getting it out. We had wiggle wire forever and and if it got bent you just bent it back in place. Not to mention years later if it got lost on the ground, or in the dump - it just rusted way . No bits of plastic to contaminate the ground, or the dump. But like said, it could be re-bent as needed.
